Macarena Puig

Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Macarena has been working for nearly ten years serving under-represented communities. As secretary for the Spanish National Honor Society of her high school in Miami, FL she discovered her passion for this work by managing meal distributions for individuals experiencing homelessness. This experience committed her to compassionate, direct care. Macarena is a graduate of San Francisco State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology with a concentration in Cell and Molecular Biology, graduating Magna Cum Laude in May 2025. This science education is what allows her to bring a different, analytical perspective to her role as CFO, which will ensure that the Foundation’s assets and resources are allocated with integrity, sustainability, and evidence-based impact. Her connection to the community is also confirmed by her volunteer work in the Emergency Department at Sutter Health. Besides her non-profit and healthcare roles, Macarena is also a manager and director at a local swim school, where she has honed her skills in operations and staff leadership. While she is pursuing a medical degree, she will ensure that the financial strategy of the Valliant Foundation is in alignment with the Foundation mission of providing investment in human potential and impact in establishing stability for unhoused residents in San Francisco.
